
Metacognition skills are an important aspect of executive functioning. They
include; ability to plan, monitors, solves problems and is pertinent when it
regards helping one to learn. Moreover, they involve analyzing ones thoughts.
Tests and scales have been established to rate one's executive functioning ny. One's ability to plan, shift flexibly,
carry out tasks efficiently, monitor self, solve problems and memory are put to
test. Most use the everyday activities to measure children's functionality.
The development of these skills is closely related to the development of the neurological development of the front part of the brain. Stimulation of this part helps grow strong executive skills all through childhood.
Learning and practicing these skills regularly gets them implanted in the system and thus becoming second nature. This is crucial since it helps students achieve great success both during and after school life. The earlier they start practicing the faster it is for them to tackle challenges in life.
